So.. What can I do with a bag of chocolate chips? Hmm…
Well… According to google search result, there’s a lot… Cookies, cakes, cupcakes, ice cream, the choices are endless. At first I already set my goal on making a chocolate chip cookies. But then after googling around, read like – I don’t know two dozens of recipes maybe – I finally set my choice on one particular recipe… a Chocolate Chip Cookie Brownies by evilshenanigans.com.
After one and half hour messing around in the kitchen, this is how it turned out to be…

Brownies’ ingredients:
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 28 grams chocolate (I used dark chocolate) – chopped
- 3 tablespoons Nutella
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 200 grams sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 egg yolk
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
- 100 gram all-purpose flour
- 1/8 teaspoon cardamom
- 1 tablespoon cocoa powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
chocolate chip cookies’ ingredients:
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, room temp
- 50 grams packed light brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 egg, cold
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
- 100 grams plus 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 150 grams chocolate chips

How to:
- Heat up the oven at 170°C
- Spray the baking pan with a non-stick spray, layer it with baking paper and spray it again. I personally didn’t do this, because I don’t have the non-stick spray.
- In a bowl, mix together butter, nutella and chopped chocolate and melt it in a microwave or in a double boiler until smooth.
- In another bowl, mix the butter, sugar, egg, egg yolk, vanilla.
- Add the melted chocolate to the batter and mix it well.
- Add the flour, cardamom, cocoa powder and salt until there’s no lump of the flour. Pour the batter into the baking pan and set it aside.
————————————————————————–
- Mix the butter, brown sugar, sugar.
- Add the vanilla and egg, continue mixing until it’s well blended. Add the flour, baking soda and salt.
- Put in the choco chip and mix evenly using spatula.
- Scoop the choco chip batter into the brownies.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes until the middle part is firm when you move it.
- Let the brownies cool down inside the baking pan for 1 hour. Then remove it from the pan and let it cool down again in room temperature before slicing it.

I love it… The textures are hard on the upper part and gooey when you start to chew it. Hmmm.. yummy. At first I was not sure about the amount of sugar in this recipe. 200 grams did seem too much. But turn out, the sweetness level is perfect and it just blends well with the chocolate. I did one mistake though. I put too much flour (2 tablespoons over) into the brownies batter. I didn’t see any difference though…
The only thing that frustrated me when I made this brownies was the measurement. I’m not used at using cups and ounce. I got super annoyed when I needed to measure every ingredients. Added that I don’t have a proper cups measurement thingy. That’s why on this recipe, I changed it to grams, just so it’s easier for me if I want to make it again one day. If you want to see the real measurement, you can check out the evilshenanigans.com page.
So this is my recipe submission for this month Two Little Chefettes’ first ever monthly cooking challenge with chocolate chips as the theme. Why don’t you join us too and show your creation with this fun ingredient. Don’t forget that the latest date to submit the entry is on July 9th 2012.

I’m also satisfied with how it looks..
Given how much I LOVE cookies and brownies, I’m surprised I have never attempted to bake them together. These chocolatey cookie brownie bars look delicious (and dangerous) to a chocoholic like me!
LOL… I didn’t even know that it’s actually possible to do it… But yeah, it’s a little bit addictive… You just can’t seem to stop..
